Drymia is a small village belonging to the local community of Paschalia(2 km away) and the municipality of Stavroupoli(15 km away), while it lies 42 km from the city of Xanthi. Nestled at the foothills of the Lekani Mountains(also known as Tsal Dagh), at an altitude of around 160 m, Drymia is “hidden” behind the mountains alongside the Nestos River Valley, laid out amphitheatrically with a panoramic view of the surrounding area. The village is surrounded by forests of pine, chestnut, and beech, overlooking the Nestos River. Formerly known as Kiz Pou Kioi, it was officially renamed Drymia in 1926–27 following the population exchange between Greece and Turkey in 1923. At that time, around 21–35 refugee families (approximately 85–100 people) from Pontus, Bafra, Samsun, and other regions settled in the village. Today, the population does not exceed 100 residents, who are known for their warm hospitality. A traditional local café/tavern serves as a central meeting point. A landmark of the village is the Church of Saint George(referred to by locals as the "Great Grace of Nestos"), where a festive celebration takes place every May, featuring traditional keşkek, a raffle, and voluntary participation by locals and visitors alike. Drymia harmoniously blends traditional architecture(with a stone-paved square and the tavern “En Drymia”), tranquil natural surroundings, and vibrant local events driven by community spirit. It is an ideal destination for a day trip, leisurely walks, and spiritual rest in a serene natural setting especially during spring and summer. Popular activities include: Easy village strolls, Hiking toward Lykovouni and Chalepi, through pine and chestnut forests, Kayaking and rafting on the Nestos River, Nature walks through diverse and picturesque landscapes. Drymia also hosts church-run summer camps, operated by the Holy Metropolis of Xanthi, under the name "Ypsilochari of Nestos". These camps welcome up to 500 children annually, offering a rich program of entertainment, sports, and spiritual activities.
