The Jewish Cemetery, Jerusalem Israel (Εβραϊκό Νεκροταφείο, Ιερουσαλήμ, Ισραήλ).

Το παλαιότερο ίσως νεκροταφείο του Όρους των Ελαιών, βρίσκεται μπροστά στην Παλιά Πόλη. Οι ταφές ξεκίνησαν πριν από 3000 χρόνια, οι αρχαίοι σπηλαιώδεις τάφοι χρονολογούνται από το 1000 π.Χ. και την περίοδο του Πρώτου Ναού και συνεχίζουν μέχρι και σήμερα. Εδώ βρίσκονται και τάφοι σημαντικών προσωπικοτήτων της Εβραϊκής ιστορίας. Θεωρείται πολύ σημαντικός τόπος ταφής, γιατί κατά την ιουδαϊκή παράδοση, την ώρα της Τελικής Κρίσης θα είναι οι πρώτοι που θα αναστηθούν και θα αποκτήσουν πρόσβαση στην Βασιλεία των Ουρανών. Την σημερινή μορφή του το νεκροταφείο την απέκτησε τον 16ο άι., οι τάφοι μπορεί και να ξεπερνούν τις 150000. Εδώ μπορούν να ταφούν όλοι οι Εβραίοι χωρίς καμία διάκριση, αρκεί να δοθεί το πολύ ακριβό αντίτιμο πολλών χιλιάδων νομισμάτων. Είναι μεγάλη τιμή να θαφτεί κάποιος στο Όρος των Ελαιών, ορθογώνιες πλάκες με χαραγμένες επιγραφές στα εβραϊκά και τοποθετημένες πάνω σε κάθε τάφο πέτρες διαφόρων σχημάτων και μεγεθών. Κατά τον Ιουδαϊσμό η πέτρα συμβολίζει την αιωνιότητα και η προσφορά τους δείχνει σεβασμό στον  αποθανόντα. Εκτός του ότι είναι το πιο ακριβό νεκροταφείο στον κόσμο και οι ψυχές είναι πιο τυχερές που βρίσκονται σε αυτήν την ιερή γη, η θέα μπρος την Παλαιά Πόλη και αντίστροφα είναι εντυπωσιακή.

The oldest cemetery on the Mount of Olives, perhaps, is located in front of the Old City. Burials began 3,000 years ago, with the ancient cave tombs dating back to 1000 BCE during the First Temple period and continuing to this day. Here lie the graves of many significant figures in Jewish history. It is considered a very important burial site because, according to Jewish tradition, at the time of the Final Judgment, those buried here will be the first to be resurrected and will gain access to the Kingdom of Heaven. The cemetery as it exists today was formed in the 16th century, and the number of graves may exceed 150,000. All Jews can be buried here without distinction, as long as they can afford the very expensive cost, which runs into many thousands of coins. It is a great honor to be buried on the Mount of Olives. Rectangular slabs with engraved inscriptions in Hebrew and stones of various shapes and sizes are placed on each grave. In Judaism, the stone symbolizes eternity, and the offering of stones is a sign of respect for the deceased. Besides being the most expensive cemetery in the world, with souls believed to be fortunate to rest in this holy land, the view of the Old City and the reverse view from the Old City to the cemetery is impressive.
